1. Introduction
RallyMap (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the RallyMap mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the App.
We reserve the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time and for any reason. We will alert you about any changes by updating the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the App following the posting of changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account Information: Name, email address, username, and profile photo when you register.
- Vehicle Information: Car make, model, year, photos, and modifications you choose to share.
- Profile Content: Bio, social links, and any other information you add to your profile.
- Communications: Messages sent through in-app chat and group discussions.
- User-Generated Content: Photos, posts, rally details, and hazard reports you submit.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Location Data: Precise GPS location when you use rally tracking, hazard reporting, or convoy features. We only collect location data while the feature is actively in use or when you grant background location permission.
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
- Usage Data: Features you use and your interactions with content (for example, the rallies you join and the posts you react to).
- Log Data: IP address, access times, app features used, and other diagnostics.
- Last Active: The date and time you last used the app, recorded at most once a day. It is stored privately, visible only to you and RallyMap administrators, never shown to other members, and used only for reminder notifications and overall usage statistics.
- Video Views: When you watch a video for at least 3 seconds, we record once that your account viewed it, so we can show its total view count. Nobody, including the person who posted it, can see who viewed a video. These records are deleted with your account.
- Online Status: While the app is open, we record that you are online so group chats can show how many members are online — a number, never who. It is not shown in direct messages or in groups with fewer than 5 members. You can turn this off in Settings (“Show my online status”). Your status is not kept after you go offline.
2.3 Information from Third Parties
We may receive information about you from third-party services if you choose to connect them, such as social media accounts used for login.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Provide, operate, and maintain the App and its features
- Enable real-time rally and convoy tracking
- Facilitate community features including groups and chat
- Display hazard alerts relevant to your location and route
- Send you service-related notifications (e.g., rally invitations, hazard alerts nearby)
- Process subscription payments and manage premium features
- Monitor and analyze usage patterns to improve the App
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and abuse
- Comply with legal obligations
- Respond to your requests and support inquiries
4. Third-Party Services
RallyMap uses the following service providers. Each receives only the data needed for the feature named, and processes it under its own privacy policy:
Google (Firebase and Google Cloud)
Firebase hosts our backend: sign-in (email and password, or Sign in with Google), the database that stores your account, profile, posts, messages, rallies and hazard reports, the live positions shared during a rally, file storage for photos, voice notes and generated fliers, and our server functions. Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers push notifications, which can include the text of a message sent to you. We do not use Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics. See Firebase's Privacy Policy.
Google Maps Platform
When you search for an address or place, the text you type is sent to Google Places. When you set a destination on the hazard map, your current location and the destination are sent to Google to calculate the route. Rally stop addresses and map-selected points are sent to Google to look up their coordinates or names. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Mapbox
Mapbox provides our maps and calculates rally routes. Rally stop locations are sent to Mapbox, and during live rally navigation so are your current position and heading. The Mapbox maps software also collects anonymous usage and location telemetry; you can opt out using the “i” button on the map. See Mapbox's Privacy Policy.
Apple
Apple provides Sign in with Apple (if you choose it), delivers push notifications to your iPhone, processes in-app purchases through the App Store, and provides the Apple Maps map on some screens and when you open a destination in Apple Maps. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
Cloudflare
Videos you upload are stored and delivered by Cloudflare R2. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Agora
Agora powers real-time voice (push-to-talk) during rallies and drives. Your voice is carried through Agora's servers while a voice channel is active; we do not record it. See Agora's Privacy Policy.
Replicate
When you generate an AI flier, the event description you enter and the style you choose are sent to Replicate to create the image. Your name, account details and location are not sent. See Replicate's Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat
RevenueCat manages subscriptions and purchases. It processes transaction data and subscription status under an anonymous app user ID. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
OpenWeather
To show the weather for a rally, the rally's location is sent to OpenWeather. Your own location is not. See OpenWeather's Privacy Policy.
GIPHY
When you search for a GIF, your search text is sent to GIPHY. See GIPHY's Privacy Policy.
Vercel
Vercel hosts this website and the internal tools our team uses to moderate content and support users, which access account and content data for those purposes. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
Hostinger
Hostinger provides our email. If you email us, your message is processed by Hostinger. See Hostinger's Privacy Policy.
Some features open another service directly, such as a vehicle history report on Carfax or a destination in Apple Maps. That service's own privacy policy applies to what you do there.
5. Location Data
Location data is central to RallyMap's core features. We collect your precise location only when you actively use location-dependent features such as rally tracking, convoy mode, or hazard reporting. You can disable location access in your device settings, but this will limit or disable certain features of the App.
Location data shared during rallies is visible to other confirmed rally participants in real time. This data is not retained beyond the duration of the rally session unless you explicitly save a route.
6. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in these circumstances:
- With Other Users: Your profile (name, photo and handle) and your posts, comments and reactions are visible to all RallyMap members. Group discussions are visible to that group's members, and rallies follow the visibility you choose for them. Your garage (vehicle details) is shown according to your “Who can see my garage” setting.
- Service Providers: We share data with trusted third-party vendors who assist us in operating the App (see Section 4).
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred.
- With Your Consent: For any other purpose with your explicit consent.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.
Rally location data is deleted from our active servers within 7 days of the rally ending unless saved as a route by the rally creator.
When you delete a post, message, photo or other content, it is removed from the App immediately and its files are deleted from our servers within 30 days, unless it is part of an open safety report or we must keep it for legal reasons. Media connected to an open safety report is kept in restricted storage for up to 90 days so the report can be reviewed.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data (subject to legal obligations).
- Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Opt-out: Opt out of marketing communications at any time through the App settings.
- Location: Revoke location permissions through your device settings at any time.
- Who Can Message You: In Settings, choose who can start a new conversation with you: everyone, only people who follow you (others can send you a message request), or no one. Changing this setting does not close conversations you already have. Blocking a member stops them from sending you new messages or message requests.

9. Children's Privacy
RallyMap is for people aged 17 and over, and you must be at least 17 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17. If we learn that we have, we will promptly delete it. If you believe someone under 17 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@rally-map.com.
10. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no security system is impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information transmitted through the App.
11. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers, including standard contractual clauses approved by relevant data protection authorities.
